unable to perform scratches

Postby burtonboardrline » Tue Jun 22, 2010 8:07 am

i bought DJ hero for the wii a few days ago and when i pressed a button and moved the platter to try and do scratches it wouldnt work at all. so i returned it and got a new game and controller, and it worked fine for a few days. Today i just got a new TV, its an lcd HDTV and my last tv that this game worked on was a small tube tv, not HD. So when i played this game for the first time on the new tv it was having a hard time with the scratches so i calibrated it and it was even worse. I am able to scratch however sometimes it doesnt work at all and sometimes it does but a lot of the time it shows some of the notes passing by during the scratch like i am missing it. Its kindof hard to explain but basically the scratch function is having serious issues. I dont know if its the game or the TV, i assume its the tv but anyway, does anybody know if theres anything i can do to fix it? if not i guess i can use it on the old tv but that wouldnt be too convenient.

Hi

If this turntable is able to scratch on your old tv then calibration is definatley your issue. It is not as easy to calibrate as the manufactures make out and can require to you play about with both the video and audio delay to achieve the right set up for you - don't rely on the auto calibration!

Good luck

i changed my tv to "game" viewing mode and enabled fast response and still had the issues, so i decided i would just play the game on my old tv (its small anyway so its not an issue to setup). I reset the calibration to 0 as it was before on the old tv and i still have the problem. So now i am thinking its a problem with the controller itself, but i am not sure. I have the same issue on the old tube tv it used to work fine on. If i can fix it by calibration could you point me in the right direction because i have no idea what to set the calibration to, like should i make it positive or negative and should the audio or video have more calibration. Otherwise if i cant get it to work i might have to return it and i already returned one that couldnt scratch at all. Apparently DJ hero controllers arent very reliable. Do you know if DJ hero 2 will use the same controller or a new one? because i dont think i will buy the game if it uses the same controller.

Hi Again

We cannot give any suggested values for the calibration - it can vary wildly between setups.

One thing that is worth trying is getting hold of a copy of Rock Band - try the auto calibration on that then it will display the values (+&-) of the delay which you can then use as a guide for your DJ Hero game.

Other than this all we can suggest is trial and error - put a couple 100 ms delay on the audio then play the game, then try minus a couple hundred and try again. Do the audio and video seperatly so you know which is which.

Good luck

Oh and as for DJ Hero 2 we would imagine there would be a new turntable with the games as, as you said, the DJ Hero 1 decks have come in for a lot of critisism.
