Both cymbals not working

Postby GodivaGirl » Mon May 31, 2010 5:06 pm

Had GH drum set for almost a year now with no problems, but then today both cymbals stopped working. Can someone walk me through troubleshooting to figure out where the problem is. All the drum pads work fine. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your response. I actually did read that post before I posted. But with both cymbals not working, switching them doesn't tell me anything, as they still don't work. Just to give more information, the last time I played, everything worked fine. So both cymbals stopped at the same time. This leads me to believe it's not the cables because they are independent of each other, right? (However, I did catch my child twisting the yellow cymbal, but I don't think that would affect the orange one.) Are the sensors independent, too?

I'm sorry to ask such a dumb questions, but I am really unsure of the workings. How do I determine if it's the cables or cymbals or something else so I know what to buy?

Thank you,

Hi again

If you do not have one working side after changin the cymbals around then it is impossible to tell which part it at fault. If you do not know anyone with a similar drum set that you test your cymbals on (where your working cymbal on another drumkit would indicate the cables being at fault) Then there are not many more troubleshooting options availiable to you. If this is the case we would suggest starting by changing one of the cymbal cables as this is the most common fault we see.

Hope this helps

Ok, I really appreciate your help. I'll order the cables and hope that will solve the problem.

Thank you again,
