Whammy Bar Help

Postby ryburn_m » Mon Sep 28, 2009 10:05 pm

My Whammy bar is broken and I would love to get a new piece to fix it..but don't see anything on your website. I took my guitar all apart and the spring is intact, but the little plastic part that attaches to the whammy bar itself is broken. It does work if I lift it up and down, but it doesn't spring back. I tried super glue, but no luck it just comes back apart. Any suggestions?

I think you were on the right track with the glue but you may need a stronger one. Some of the super glues I have used over the years weren't that super.

Instead try a 2-part adhesive or a better quality super glue. We have repaired things in the past by using a similar plastic and glueing that to the already-glued repair. Done well, this can add rigidity to the repair. Be careful not to make it too wide to stop reassembly or prevent the spring from fitting correctly.

Hope this helps :)

With your squeaky whammy bar you could consider a bit of lubricant but be casreful as any overspill may damage it - our advise is to turn your TV up so you cant hear it or the neighbours complaining about the noise!
